09 Feb 2022
We officially welcomed Year 7 to Nambucca High on Tuesday 1 February and they have made a wonderful start to high school and learning. Students reconnected with their Year Advisors: Ms Nowland and Ms Boyd and met their Challenge hub and Create hub teachers. Students successfully completed the Nambucca Know How Program where they were inducted into the routines of ‘hub life’. In one activity by Ms Marshall and Aunty Felicia, students completed a learning survey to create an awareness of innate differences in the way people approach work, life and learning. Each student was then assigned an animal symbol representing the way that they learn. Ask your child is they are a Dolphin, Kangaroo, Eagle or Wombat and what that means.
The Girraawa project team of teachers is looking forward to the year ahead with our new students and sharing their learning experiences with you.
This year, the Girraawa Project (previously know as Project NEST) has changed for 2022 and is structured as follows:
The Challenge Hub (Eucalypt or Angophora) where students will study English, History, Geography, Science and Coding
The Create Hub which will consist of a Literacy and numeracy Masterclass involving PE, Music, Visual Arts, TAS (Metal Work, Timber and Food Technology)
