2014 School Captain Abbee-Kate Milgate:
Nambucca Heads High School, it's been great, we have had good times, bad times and everything in between.
Good Morning, Mr McKinney, Miss Marshall, Head Teachers, Teachers, Teachers Aids, Students, Parents, Carers, Guardians, Nans, Pops, Aunties, Uncles, Siblings, Cousins and all humans, Oh, and Mr Gilbert (Ha Ha).
Dearly beloved, we are gathered together here in the sight of The Department of Education and in the face of this company to separate this group (Year 12) from this group (school) in holy matrimony. This is not to be taken lightly but reverently, discretely, advisably and solemnly. If any person has any reason to object to this separation, let them speak now or forever hold their peace - There are no objections?
Leaving school brings mixed emotions for myself and for my peers, on one hand who isn't looking forward to sitting on the beach instead of sitting in class, or going shopping instead of learning what x and y equal. I can't say I will miss sitting in this freezing cold gym in the middle of winter doing exams, but I will miss making memories, the students, the staff members, social events, spontaneous lunch time activities and most importantly the canteen.
Our year group is filled with many different personalities from different backgrounds, this past year some of us learnt to drive by ourselves, and in some cases crash by ourselves, but we won't go into the details! We survived the tough 12 year old days, when our top priority was being in our friends top" MySpace friends", we survived the Year 10 excursion under the supervision of Mr Ogilvy and we have survived approximately 1200 days of high school, I think we did good.
We have had many achievements within our year group in areas such as sporting, academic, public speaking, debating and creative and performing arts. But, I also want to congratulate every single person in Year 12 for things they have achieved that may not be recognised publicly, whether it is a personal goal or getting a good mark on an assessment.
To the students of Nambucca High, thank you for being such an enjoyable presence for us, even though you are really loud when we are doing exams, we might still miss you.
To every single staff member including our principal, deputy, teachers, teacher's aids, support teachers, office ladies, cleaners, canteen ladies on behalf of Year 12 we would like to thank you guys for your continued support, we definitely couldn't have done it without you.
I'd also like to give a special mention to Mr Ison who stayed around to teach some of us for a final year, we really appreciate everything you have done for us and for Nambucca High - Happy Retirement.
To our Year Advisors that we started high school with, Mr John Cochrane and Miss Emily Fletcher, although they aren't here, thank you for your support during our high school years. To Mr Declan Horan and Ms Lyndee Thomas, we owe you two a lot, thank you for supporting us through our senior years and keeping us kind of sane.
And finally to Year 12 of 2014 I feel so lucky to have spent the last six years with you guys and I couldn't have asked for a better group to complete this chapter of my life with.
Well Nambucca High, it has been great, but it's time for us to start the next chapter of our lives, thank you all for making the last six years unforgettable and so special. See Ya!
2014 School Captain Timothy Daley: Unfortunately I wasn't able to get copy of Timothy's speech as much of it was adlib, but a summary follows.
Timothy began by summarising how different life has become since beginning school. How hard life seemed back then and realising how easy it was! How their parents and teachers watched them grow and become adults, without causing too many problems along the way. Timothy spoke about staying at Nambucca Heads High School for his senior years and how happy and supported he was during the time leading up to his HSC. To quote Timothy, "Some students left because they thought that this school wasn't good enough for them. For all of us that stayed, I believe we made the best possible decision. We can all agree, that Nambucca High has given us everything we could ask for form a school. A place to grow together, a place for fun. Allowing us amazing opportunities through teachers who go above and beyond, opening the doors into our futures".
Timothy finished his speech by thanking all the staff and Nambucca Heads High School and wishing all students the very best for their future, whatever that may hold.
Staff and students at Nambucca Heads High School would like to congratulate Year 12 2014. They have been a fantastic group of students. We are proud of them and wish them every success in the future.
